I’ve read a lot of posts on this forum about pedals. Plenty of people clean the older style welders pedal to get them working again. It seems like there is maybe 1 or 2 newer styles? I have a 2011 with a pedal assembly that has a separate throttle position senser screwed into the side of it. I’m wondering if I can just buy this throttle position sensor? The pedals I see online don’t look like mine; they look like the sensor and electrical connector are built into the pedal assembly? I have a “Williams Controls 133313” bolted onto the side of my mechanical pedal (it looks exactly like this Amazon.com: 133313 Fit Throttle Position Sensor 134118/133284/135193/133692/134249/136796 Car Accessories : Automotive). I have also seen posts where people describe opening this newer style to clean it, but I can’t see how to get it open.
I had a post last fall about a code 11 that won’t go away. I tried everything that was suggested on this forum, including getting my controller rebuilt for $450 and then I bought another controller to test if that one wasn’t rebuilt correctly for another $500. We did lots of electrical tests, connector cleaning etc., but I just can’t get this figured out. Reviewing dozens of other code 11 threads on this forum seems to show that issues were resolved with new pedals, but it’s hard to tell how people fixed a pedal or a sensor or bought new ones somehow.
Hi, Yes, it got pretty wet one day and I developed a code 11 that is there every time I press the accelerator. We did a bunch of electrical checks (various 23pin checks, jumped parking brake, jumped key switch etc., and I did the troubleshooting guide). We were thinking controller and I had my T4 rebuilt by FSIP, no change. We suspected that they didn’t rebuild it correctly; I recently bought a new old stock T4, and I just installed it today with no change. If it means anything, I have not connected the field or armature cables to the controller but still get the -11.
I just reread dozens of code 11 posts and many people have success switching out the pedal or sensor. I just can’t seem to tell if anybody has a similar pedal to my 2011 ELXD. It has this external TPS that is just bolted onto the mechanical pedal. I can’t open that sensor up to check. I’m not sure if I can just buy a replacement sensor and stick it in. I’ve already spent way more money than I should have but the cart isn’t worth anything if it’s not working.
Do you think the facebook groups get more views than this forum? I prefer this format but could use the facebook group if it’s the place to be.
FB forums are mostly the beginner group.
But then, I hang out there too.
I’m going to go back and read our thread again. The odd thing is that I am under the impression that Throttle is not supposed to work with the T4. I have no idea how that throttle ended up in your 2011 car unless your original controller was a T5.
Somehow- I also did not pick up on this little detail. Maybe because it was working before? then it wasn’t? (so I didn’t even think of checking).
Your other thread was even calling this a 2010 car. Which would have throw me off even more.
I have something wild for you to try. Meet me over on private message.
Sorry, you’re right, it is a 2010… I think I was confusing it with my car. So it’s a 2010 EL XD. It had a T4 when I bought it last year. It worked great all summer before issues started. I now have a refurbed T4 and a new old stock T4.
This is my throttle sensor, removed, and also a kind of bad picture of the pedal from under the hood. This setup shouldn’t have been paired with a T4? Is there a chance somebody put in a pedal or a controller after the fact and then tweaked the controller software somehow to make it work? Then maybe it got reset and now isn’t working? I never changed anything and the cart worked like this for months.
I’m going to check a few things that @AssyRequired has mentioned this morning.
Here’s a better picture of the pedal. Both the pedal and the sensor are “Williams Controls”
This worked as is for a 6 months or so before the issue started.
I am new to this forum and I am trying to figure out how to create a new post. Can anyone help me? We have a 2017 Gem EM1400 that ran great for the first six months but now it will randomly shut down while in driving in forward. Trying to figure out what new part we may need.
Yep - That button is hidden. Normally there are a couple of buttons at the top of the page but due to some odd/conflict error these buttons are hidden by the banner when the page gets drawn up.
The easiest method is to just tap your keyboard “c” key(no modifiers). This action will open up the new topic editor window. (think “c” for Create New Topic). A sample of what your are publishing is in the window to the right of the editor window.
Depending on what is being viewed at the time of your button press, the editor might copy/paste a few things into your editor window along with some HTML markup in the Body. Clear all that out of you are starting a new topic.
Also- use the pull down window and select which forum you want your new message to end up.
After it shuts down, what makes it come back on again? Is the shut down accompanied. With any particular event like going over a bump? Any fault codes on the dash? . Judging from what you reported, the first and most logical place to look is for a loose connection on one of the plugs. Pull and clean all wire connections and plugs and report back.
@Gem_e2 , when google that part number I see a black pedal with what looks to be a a large black case at the pivot. Mine, as shown in the picture has an aluminum housing at the pivot, the sensor that I removed already is bolted into that, and then the pedal itself is a black rod going into the cab.
I haven’t seen anything that looks like my setup on this forum or online searching for parts
Well that’s definitely the same kit. I guess someone put a new polaris pedal and sensor kit in this cart before I got it. I just bought a new sensor as shown in that picture, but a generic one off ebay. When I plug that in, there is no error code but I get no main contactor clunk or drive to the motor. Electrical checks to pin7 show 0v no matter throttle position. Checks on pin3 show 4.6v no matter the throttle position. Perhaps this generic throttle sensor isn’t cutting it, like doesn’t have the exact same parts on the inside even though it looks identical.
@Gem_e2, do you know if I can buy just the throttle sensor from polaris? Also, others have commented that this pedal/sensor paired with my T4 controller is odd, do you know anything about that? Would polaris have tweaked the controller to work with that?
I was going to suggest that you send throttle to Byron or myself for testing, but I believe that your test is valid.
Send it to me if you like. I can test it using a t4 controller.
I can also try an after-market sensor on your pedal.
