Caricabatterie zivan NG1

Good morning, I have a 2002 Gem E2 with 6 gel batteries of 12V each, totaling 72V. I would like some advice on the setting of the Zivan Ng1 charger because I think it might have been changed by the previous owner. I am attaching a photo of the charger and would like some advice, thank you.

Good morning. I own a 2002 Gem E2 equipped with six 12V gel batteries, totaling 72V. I would greatly appreciate your guidance on configuring the Zivan NG1 charger, as I suspect the settings may have been altered by the previous owner. I have attached a photograph of the charger for your reference—thank you kindly for your assistance.

Hi @Klamanc, welcome to the group.

You are in luck as your charger appears to have several Gel settings programmed into this charger.

You did not list the capacity of the 12v Gel batteries you have installed, so just pick one closest to what you have and monitor them to see how they are doing. Hopefully you have a means of doing this? (such as a digital Volt meter) I would guess that you will be using setting 8 or 9.

As you are charging, make sure the voltage remains within spec of the suggested range of your battery. (usually found on the side or top of your battery).

It is also a good time to check the balance on ALL of your batteries to make sure they are all within 0.10v of each other.

Grazie

Thank you for your response. Since it was set to D, I suspect it did not reach full charge—likely due to this configuration. I am now sending a photo of the six installed batteries. Thank you.

How long have you been using setting D?
Your label does not explain the battery type intended for this setting.
Can you measure if your batteries are under/overcharging/ when using this setting?

According to the charger label,
I might suggest setting [A] for 75 ah batteries.

Also note that these batteries (being only 75ah) are not a very strong choice for replacement battery in a Gem car. I would not expect much performance or range even when new. This would be considered a short range pack and possibly for testing.

I only used them for a few months last summer; their range is actually about 15 km(9mi). Now I’ve bought a desulfator which, combined with a car charger for gel batteries, has brought them to full charge, and they seem to be all right. They reached almost 14 volts with the charger connected; now I’ll set it to [A] as you suggested. But is it normal to only have this much range?

Hopefully there was not much damage from incorrect charging.

Range is difficult to predict not knowing how you are using this car and the terrain you are driving.
I’d guess that 15km(9mi) is probably about right for a 75ah pack.
Verify that your batteries are all equal voltage.
Do not run them lower than 50% (12v).
Check your wheel are free to roll easily and brakes are not dragging.
Maintain proper air pressure in your tires.
Keep your battery cables and connections clean and tight
