2002 gem lithium conversion

Looking at all these lithium batteries swaps , I’m seeing the con is they don’t fit in the front hood , I don’t mind doing the modification to save money is there any brands people have used and had success with and then also like what am I looking for in a set up? Thanks for the help

Actually there is a purpose built one that fits up front. Get in touch with Dave or Michael, when i scraped my 02 I sent phots, dimensions and some parts from the truck to Dave so they could design one that fits up there.

@Inwo
@LithiumGods

Yes, as JarJarJava mentioned, look up the Mighty Mite 2.0 from LithiumGods on this forum. I have one and have been very happy with it.

Yeah, I’ve seen the ones from my ride 4 fun , but I just the price of those is double of something else and I mean, I just thought if like electric wise it’s like sell wise if I just put one under the seat, would it sear the same purpose cause I mean I don’t have a lot into the cart. I got it for 300 bucks and the gel batteries work but I’m just looking into maybe upgrade it.

Dave and Mike aren’t Ride$Fun. Unlike R$F, they actually are gem enthusiasts. I’ve personally bought 2 gems from Dave after he had run.them around for a few years and wanted to move on to a new gem and new project. One of them, the 10 eL, was very likely, as far as anyone seems to know, the first GEM ever retrofitted with lithium batteries.

I’m not even sure that guy at R$F even owns a gem. He’s just a parts middleman. All he seems to do is rip off other people’s work & products and claim them as his own. What he can’t steal, he rebadges.

Not even close, friend.

The reason for the pack over the from wheels on the 00-04 is that without the weight up there the ride quality, traction and turning all go down the shytter fast due to god awaful design of the front end by Gem those years.

“Unable to krep the front wheels on the ground” is not that far from the truth of it once the weight is gone up there. Those years need it up there.

Sure, you can put a pack under the seat and weight the front down, but at that point you’ve basically thrown away one of the greatest advantages of lithium packs for these vehicles which is to get rid of 400lbs of ballast that is holding your vehicle back. That’s about 1/3 of the weight of the gem located in those lead bateries

“619” … not trying to pry, but are you in the San Diego / LowCal area?

Unfortunately I am out of the Mighty Mites. Sold a lot of those but have not been able to get any inventory for a while now.

@LithiumGods I have one here, left from harness building.

I can have it ready to ship in a week.

The only thing, I don’t have is install experience with the Mighty Mite.
i also don’t know the price, but believe it was less than $2k

2k for the whole system

@Inwo

I can send install instructions and pictures

Hahahaa. That is funny. You used the words “ride quality” when describing a 00-04 car.

Let’s be real. These things will always ride like a dump truck unless you do all sorts of suspension work (which no one has ever been able to properly dial in). True- that this is even worse when upgrading to lithium. Even with the SDI22 up front they will still rattle your fillings out.

Even My Gen2 car rides like a brick. I’m diving into suspension work next. I want it to float like a cloud.

I’d be interested in the Mighty Mite if
Bigeric619 passes on it. Or even a Mid Voltage battery if there is one available.

I need to move my GEM and am about to buy lead acid batteries but would rather not go down that road again.

@LithiumGods please i’m definitely interested

Inwo can ship. I will do support, send instructions and i believe still have a cover for them.

might have a midvoltage available. have a pallet coming in, not sure on quantity, a few may be available. It has been so hard to get product. I get some and they sell out quick.

I’m building a harness now. It will be for sale either way.

True dat.

I used to describe them “a cross betwwen a pogo stick and a sybian” but was getting too many weird emails…

Is “Gen 2” really the right descriptor though?

The body is still the same as the 98-04.
The 98-99 trans2 had 48v motor but same suspension as 99/00-04 72v carts that followed.

05 had new front end suspension design, a T3 controller, but old body.

06 had T4.

09 or 10 they changed some electronics and did something to improve ride.

Iirc 12 was more ride improvements. I think something changed again in 14. Then the 48v vehicles. The eM was first in 14 and it was RWD unfortunately it was just as orphaned as its predecessor, the Polaris 4wd electric ranger. . Then the 48v FWDs came out to teplace the classic bubble nose & canopy in 15 (iirc) .

So is it really a GEN2 or do you have more like a GEN4? Or 5 even?

Just wanted to give you some mental bubble gum for the weekend buddy.

( yet another thread goes down to the Byron and Coop geek out techno drivel)

@Inwo how much and where are you located? I’m in San Diego.

I can ship.

I’ll get a price delivered.
