1968 mustang electric muscle car

Can anyone tell me information on building an electric car. We r going to buy a 1960’s mustang muscle car and convert it to AC power.

  • what are some good AC electric rechargeable batteries
  • what are some high performance AC car motors that are good
Also, does anyone know the price range of all of this? Or at least a guess of how much this would be?

So the car will be a 1960’s mustang muscle car that will be converted to an AC electric motor. It will have black stripes running parallel down the middle of the car. But instead of the stripes being made of paint, they will be made of solar panels. We chose the mustang simply because, back in the 1960’s muscle cars were enormous gas guzzlers, with Ford’s Mustang taking the title of the worst gas mileage. So it’s irony to have the mustang be economically friendly by converting it to electric.

Thanks,
Ben

That will be a nice project. certainly do your research well. look for a electric car club near you. talk to the members. there is a book that will be of help to you. the title is Build Your Own Electric Vehicle. by Seth Leitman and Bob Brant. any book stre should be able to get it for you.

Happy Motoring

Stinky good luck with you project. Here are a couple question you need to answer before moving forward with this project.

This process can still be expensive, and it involves a lot of blood, sweat, and tears… The conversion process can be broken down into a few key steps:

The Key Steps:

1 - Know what you getting yourself into - Do Your Research!

2 - Obtain the car to convert. (don’t want to chop up your Mustang)? Try a repo auction service)

3 - Remove the gasoline engine, fuel tank, etc.

4 - Replace the removed components with all the electronic goodies.

5 - Smile as you zip past the gas stations, realizing that as gas prices rise, your conversion will pay for itself even quicker

I wouldn’t want to convert a 68’ Mustang, but hey that’s just me!
