Pulled into Cody, wy (cold) from Yuma, AZ (hot) plugged charger and got two tone alarm and flashing yellow light. I un plugged the thermistor and it worked fine, just no charge indicator light. Ok… Found that the thermistor was under one of the batteries, wire smashed and all kinds of corrosion on it. Apparently the battery leaked on it. Perhaps the change in elevation? I will pull the battery tomorrow and inspect the case for a hole or crack. Anyway the thermistor is toast. Excessive heat is not an issue here, so my question is: can I just cut the leads to the thermistor and leave the other plugged in so as to not lose my indicator light?
Dunno. Never tried that. I suppose if you cut and individually insulate both of the thermistor wires it should see it as “not there” and still run the LED. It will run fine without the thermistor. The charger just runs the full program/algorithm rather than trimming the voltage / time in the last phase based on temp.
That’s pretty much what I figured, thanks. As soon as it stops snowing here, I’ll get into it.
