I know I asked are there service records… when were the batteries replaced… do they hold a charge… when do the plates expire…

I’d probably buy this even at $3250… I bought canvas doors for mine when I bought my car… planned to remove them for the summer… never did… I like the security factor… the car isn’t an open car… too many people want to get in… I also think it’s a safety factor… as I think it makes the car more visible… as someone pointed out the hard doors come off easy… and with them on for storage they probably will keep the car cleaner…
There aren’t any records to my knowledge of servicing. The sales guy played dumb. You know as soon as this thing is delivered, I’m going to have to replace the batteries. That’s the way I look at it. He needs to drop another 750 dollars. Then I have to get him to split shipping.

go to uShip and get a bid on moving it so you know a shipping cost… make sure it will run at least enough to get on and off the truck… you can always call off the uShip bidding… if you have it shipped on an open trailer it MUST face forward… I asked GEMcarpartsdirect for a favor to check the VIN… today is Monday to them I assume and they are not online

Looks like 500 to ship.

from Bethlehem PA to where?

28105…

578 miles… you should do better… make them want the load… interstate 81 should have a lot of haulers… got to be someone who needs to get back to Winston-Salem… a short detour to Mathews… $300-$400… easy for me to say… I’m in Colo… I moved my car from Grass Valley CA the middle of nowhere between Truckee CA and Sacramento 1190 miles for $500 in a box trailer

Thanks for the comments. Maybe offer 350 bucks, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Those guys have to come down on their price. I imagine the market in Pennsylvania isn’t the best right now. LOL

no but you might find a snowbird or someone fed up with the weather as soon as it thaws a little

Quickest way to get a response on Uship is to post your budget. Be realistic these people have to make a living. I had a TownCar shipped from Orlando to Gulf Shores for $500 and a Rider Lawnmower From Tavares Florida to Gulf Shores Alabama for $110.

SCDUDE… still looking? this car doesn’t look bad… soft doors not hard… EG4 electric passenger vehicle ~ Electric car

Sorry I went MIA, but I think I’m going to go with an EZGO. I really wish the GEM was more dependable as I like the way they look! =[

If you go with a used EZGO check for rustout of frame rails and battery cradle. Frame rusts out from openings in front letting in water and cradle rusts out from acid.

EZGO = Rust Bucket…

how about a 2 door GEM…

I am selling my 2002 GEM 2 seater. It has the soft doors, the plexiglass rear window & 12 inch wheels with good tires. I am near Buffalo, NY. Asking $2,000.

Sounds nice but no thanks… Sorry, I was not interested in the first generation model.

One month ago I bought a two door 2008 Tenth Anniversary Special Edition model. With ALL the bells and whistles, 7.0 motor, new gel batteries, Stereo radio, Adjustable steering column, new 15" mag wheels, new tires, Chrome front and rear bumpers, High/Low beam head lights, Rear storage and golf package, Cloth zippered side doors. leather monogramed 10th anniversary edition seats. 4K miles and garage kept by lady owner only drove it to church on Sunday… All invoices from dealer serviced only since new. Its the rare metallic Blue color. It was only two hundred miles from my home here in sunny warm S/W Florida …

Best of luck with your sale…

Are these high/low beam headlights “auto-like” and OEM installed?

One of the biggest “problem” w/ GEM engineering IMO is the “weak” headlight functioning. I’m dubious of driving on the public roads after dark. The headlights, at least on my 2001, aren’t dimmable and don’t project light very far down the road. Probably OK for slow speed and private streets or the golf course and I imagine they let oncoming drivers become aware of the GEM but the headlights certainly don’t inspire much confidence with me after dark. I’ve looked at alternatives but haven’t found anything really suitable. I’ve read about others retrofitting HID lighting and/or 3rd party lightbars but without hi/lo dimming capability, they really aren’t street-legal. I’d love to find a reasonable solution which is why I’m interested in your comment.

Al a couple of guys have found a halogen bulb that will fit… look for the thread on this forum or on the yahoo NEV group… the stock lights on my '05 are very bright… I have no problem at night

Bob

I don’t have problems at night. Are your lights properly adjusted? I only do town driving so would never use high beams anyway.
