Sevcon controller monitor and control over CAN bus

I’ve seen you guys(@Inwo, @Erniea15 @AssyRequired @LithiumGods etc ) mention the Sevcon controller and even saw one once when Byron came to PB for a battery upgrade. I also looked into it a bit when I saw it required a special cable and software version to program. Stuff rattles around in my head sometimes for years. So I know the later model GEMs use the Sevcon controllers.

While looking at building a vehicle monitoring device for our Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model Y I ran across a discussion about an EV called Twizy and the Sevcon controller. Turns out that the Open Vehicles Monitor Systems(OVMS) supports the Twizy/Sevcon over the CAN bus. It even stated it can do tuning too. So this might be an alternative tool for you guys and the Sevcon controllers you’re always tweaking.

and Twizy stuff mentioned in this FAQ

Thanks, but the eevcon is not used as a motor controller in the new Gems.
It is mostly a dumb inverter, with the vcm controlling the motor functions.
It migh be useful for those with jailbroke Sevcons.
