Lithium Conversion

No .car is dead.

I just sent a T! in that acted like that. Display would come on momentarily and die.

It was caused because I forgot to turn off the power to change out the motor. A field wire touched an armature wire ā€œPOPā€ another bad day in paradise.

1 check fuse #10

2 connect green from timer to red/green

3 check voltage on pin 1 of 23 pin connector

4 if you have 72 volts Jumper pins 1 and 2 car should run.

If it runs we can back track, If it doesn’t you could have a puked out controller

For you guys following this check out the basic controller wiring diagram on page 10

on the T2 controller manual.

Well accidentally touching the Chargers Green 72volt wire to my controllers B- turns out to be a costly mistake! I picked up this rebuilt controller (assuming my controller is bad) and I’m sure my charger will need a re-work or fix as well it’s giving me 6 red flashes that’s bad! I’m guessing my stupidity it going to set me back $700 when its all said and done.

Ok I got the car running again. I’m embarrassed to admit it was a inner lock issue the whole time  o well I’m glad the controller is not damaged and the charger looks like it may have been the only victim. More to come on that later.

I did have a chance to take the car out for a test drive. Well let me first say that the car is much faster then even my other lithium car.
The problem is this. The later cars 2008 and above were designed with all the weight (batterys) in the rear. My 2002 has the 2 batts up front and the 4 in the rear. Well in sure this weight distribution has somthing to do with the shocks gem picked out.

When I took all that weight it of the car the front end is sticking up a inch or so higher effecting the camber, and it rides rough as hell it bounces down the road like a car with no shocks. You have to take off super slow because it will smoke the tires while your going 10mph. Yup start going and get up to 10 mph and then floor it the front tires will come in glued!!! I’m pretty sure that because the shocks are way to hard and there is now no weight of er the front end.

I’m excited to re-install the air shocks. I had to abandon them a while back because they were just to soft. I’m thinking now that they will be perfict fit now that the car has gone on a diet!

Idea for remote charge indication that you asked about.

TosLink cable is available locally. 90 deg fittings available.
This is thru 50’ cable.

INWO, is that a toslink digital audio plastic fiber cable? That is a very clever idea!

Yes, after looking for fiber optics to recommend, I remembered that I had some optic audio cables.

I’m not sure they would work without an output diffuser.

If you’re still having a weight/ratio problem may I humbly offer my fat a## to compensate.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So I bolted up the Air shocks in the front of the car that I had once deemed ā€œto softā€ this was when the car had the lead acid batterys it’s Night and Day difference, the car now functions as it should.
I have not installed the rear air shocks yet (because I sold the originals) and I’m waiting on a new pair. But I can just tell from how the front rides that the rear is NOW not in tune with how soft the front is and that if it had rear air shocks it would be a perfect ride, just to give you a before and after Idea of what’s going on. Back when I installed the Air shocks I had pumped them up to 125 Psi and they were still to soft. Now I’m running 20 Psi and the ride is great. It floats down the road. So I have plenty of room to pump UP if I’m taking passengers out.
Long and short I have to say If your trying to decide on a Lithium kit you have to take the shock modification into or as part of the deal when you do a older Gem. The 05 and up with the upgraded battery configuration converts Much easier because the batterys on the newer cars are already in the rear and the weight distribution has already been figured out by the factory. So just as we all know adding weight drastically effects these cars and the same can be said for removing it.

Is there no dirt in California?
My house should be so clean!

You talked too fast and mumbled on your Utube post with a middle eastern country sounding dialect . Sounds just like you got off the boat at Ellis Island…

Nice photography though… Thank you for you attempt.

Rascal: I’m not sure I get your joke? But I do know that when a person takes a picture or photo you refer to it as ā€œphotographyā€ and when someone takes a video it’s called a movie or videography. You refferance my Video as ā€œphotographyā€ so Mabey that explains why you were complaining about talking to fast and some sort of middle eastern accent in my video. Sounds like you don’t or might not have a good grasp of the English language. Either you don’t understand English or your just a old Coger or both?

Play nice guys. I carry the hammer.

I found it easy to understand, and I’m near deaf.

Grant, getting caught up again. Do you still want a DQ interlock relay?

I have an analog tach/speedometer for you to test.
Put it in the mail tomorrow if you’re still game.

David I just got my new Delta q today. So yes I’m going to need that 72 V relay interlock

I’ll get it ready to go.

Sending relay and one speedometer.
If you like it I’ll look for black face.

I would be interested in something like that

David: thank you let me know how much I owe you I’ll pay pal ya. And if we can’t find a piller mount that works I can always make one. I haven’t cranked up the carbon fiber workshop in a while, but I might have to,could be a fun little project. I’m getting burned out on cutting and working with wire
