Hybrid mower

Hello all I am thinking of converting a old lawn tractor to hybrid. The basic concept is to use the tractor with elec clutch to generate power then run electric motors to power the decks .Any thoughts should I use an alternator or 110 generator ect.
thanks

Generators are heavy so you would end up with a hard to steer beast. However:

A few years back MTD made electric mowers that ran on 110AC with DC motors. The weak point was the rectifiers and nobody would fix the mowers because they were electric. The rectifiers are available on Ebay for 5 bucks.

Two of these puppys would work for a 38" deck. I fixed a basket case about a month ago. Had to draw up a schematic for the thing cause I couldn’t find anything on the web.

Keep us up to date.

I’ll have to see if I can find any historical info on those ,might give me some ideas

Hi Guy

Did you progress with your hybrid mower?

Sot of My company just hired a engineer who worked for GM and a Chinese company who’s name escapes me. He worked on electric vehicles his entire career and he is going to help me figure it out.

Are you planning to commercialise the hybrid mower?

no, not at all, just learning
