Both ends are same spline.
How about more info? Spline counts of solid shaft and both cv joints.
Pictures?
@Old_Houseboater
@MikeKC
@grantwest
Did I get lucky?
So what’s this new shaft discovery mean for all of us?
- The correct cv joint and stub shaft to weld up.
- Correct cv joint that fits inner oem solid center shaft.
- Long shot- Solid shaft is correct length and spline.
- Longer shot- outer cv joint fits something. New or classic.
- Impossible-Correct length and fit for something
- I don’t know what I’m doing.
I’m at a standstill. Nothing to work with. I can send a shaft to someone who may have more to work with.
Current production transmission side shaft large has large spline, wheel side small spline
Classic has small splines both ends. Schaffer/Rodney Current production using Schafer/Rodney Requires Modified Classic Axle Assembly.
When I did this project I Quoted Custom shaft $960 each plus Engineering charge. Lucky I didn’t because it would have been too short.
Yes, both ends of the solid shaft are the same spline.
I don’t remember the spline count for the classic gearbox output shaft or the modern outer hub but I can count when i get home.
In your picture above you have modern to modern half shaft.
I thought those COMEX gear boxes has the same dimensions as a TEAMS and would bolt right up but I assume you have verified that is not the case?
I think so but different output shafts.
I now have a shaft the fits Comex. Need a new shaft and a classic to compare.
@Old_Houseboater should have some cut off pieces.
Your parts would help as well.
Glad to send one of my new ones if it helps.
Not helpful. Need some samples.
Or I can get you a Comex transmission and one of my new shafts.
Forgot I’ve got shafts when I got the Comex
Unfortunately I just got only 2 pairs, and they are longer than oem
Team
26 3/4 from center of the gearbox to the end of the right shaft
25 1/2 from center to end left side
Comex.
27 1/2 from center to end of right shaft
26 1/2 from center to end of left shaft
What about the outboard spline.
Rodney says gems are big or small. ??
I know nothing about Comex Transmissions.
Gabe has a few dozen. We need shafts. Or samples to have them built.
Classic output shafts are smaller diameter than modern output shafts if I remember correctly.
Compressed or uncompressed? This is where it starts to get tricky.
Took the measures like in the pics,
Compressed length is standard practice.
Even shaft length isn’t accurate unless using similar cv joints.
Any help? Not getting much information.
I need to know spline count of solid shaft. Classic and 2016.
Are solid shafts pretty standard other than length?
Spline count and stub length of outboard cv joint.
Classic and 2016.
Please send parts if you have them. Junk is ok.
Splined hubs, splined cv joints, solid shafts.
@ScottyD junk classic shaft. 2005+ equal length?
@Old_Houseboater left over cut parts?
I don’t have any 2016+. But, I will get a set of 2005+ shafts out to you Monday.
I only need to “borrow” one shaft.
