I can do a quick run with oem torque map cranked up this week to see how the 5kW performs, then I can have it ready for another tester.
I would like to get a 12.1 otherwise I have to go back to 17.1.
What good would my 12:35 transmission do for a PMAC. We already know what itās top speed would be. (Slow) In my opinion it would need to be a 10:35 or smaller we already have a member with a PMAC and a 12 or 10:35 and he said it tops out at 35 Mph.
2 things we can do to move the progression of Transmissions forward. If we could get a classic gem Transmission (the Spicer) with welded on Mounts. If we had the exact measurements of the axels we could fab up some for a kit. The spicer transmissions are pretty easy to get ahold of and not expencieve
The spicer transmissions have all the fun gear ratios and they are reliable and quiet. Or we could try and source some new gear raitos for the 2016+ (team transmissions)
Not pmac. Gabe is testing oem gems with his speedbox.
So, your 12:35 to Gabe. Gabes 10:35 to Ernie for pmac testing.
The axles can go to you before going to Ernie if you have ideas.
My thought was sending one to China or looking for USA supply. I believe many parts to be interchangeable, so a matter of finding correct length shaft and correct splined ends.
Who makes the new gearbox?
How different are the gear sets from the Spicer gears?
The 2016+ transmissions say Team on them.
I donāt know what the difference between the gears are spicer Vs Team Rodney would know
So whoās gonna be the first one to test 6:1 and pmac ? @grantwest @Erniea15 or @ScottyD ?
I can trade or at least Loan trade my 10.35 Spicer with welded plates and shafts for a team 12.35.
There is only one pair of shafts on the field so it would be better if only one person can test both gearboxes 6:1 and 10.35)
Or copy shafts
Scott is ready to test. He has pmac mounted and ready to run. I told him to get it running, now, so itās ready for 6:1 when it comes in.
Iām more interested in seeing the motor run with a Sevcon than top speed.
Troy bust have had a 2008 type. Motor wouldnāt clear A-arms.
Fits in 2002 type Gem. Looks like.
We have a few more motors available.
Test on the 6:1 is going to be @grantwest and @ScottyD. Clients cart so we probably canāt test the 10.35ā¦ But, I have carts here that we can test on.
Brand new ~8:1 gearboxes available.
@djgabriel2004 , how many are left? Is it worth looking for shafts for these?
Looks to fit new Gems with the correct shafts.
Grant, Ernie, any takers?
I can ship one out.
I have some of these
Thatās ok so do I ship 6:1 it to you @ScottyD ?
I canāt ship the shafts yet but I see that you are gonna test it in a classic one so you should be fine,
Enough to make it worthwhile sourcing shafts?
Letās make Grant or Scotty do it. They can be talked into anything.
Iāll delete this if itās wrong. Arenāt they like $? (only) <$k in anycase.
Over 100
Iām 90% sure they can be adapted to thinks as well.
I can confirm that output shafts are 18 spline Think type. Think is U-joint not CV type joint.
Cv are available. Two lengths. Who knows, new Gem out board CV spline may bolt up.
For those who have not taken shafts apart, the solid middle shaft has male spline each end. So some CV ends may interchange. Need someone with a junk yard.
As you know Iām more electronic / software guy, mechanic is not my thing I have the oem shafts if you need me to measure them
I might take you up on that. I have a Team 12:35 you say your 10:35 has all the stuff to make it work? 1/2 shafts
Wait this is getting better and better. What if I used some doner parts from my Stock transmission to work with the ones your selling
Exactly, sample here is about 8:1 but there are other ratios.
The only difference may be the output shaft and bearing caps. If any.
Do you suppose a gear is integral with the shaft? Deal killer. Rodney would know. Do you have a picture of the Gem outputs.
