Can anyone help me identify these two gear boxes based on the labels? What is their gear ratio? Thanks
According to my note pad, the 012AS115 is a 10.35 gear set.
If you need to confirm, Pull the speed sensor and count how many times the motor shaft goes round-round with one full revolution of tire.
Google the numbers on the labels:
1824132 (012AS115-4) comes up as 10.35
3235416 (012AS115-1) comes up as 12.44
Both boxes are 012AS115 but one is -4 and one is -1
But would be nice if someone confirmed for sure. I’ll try your trick of measuring the revolutions. Thanks.
I was not aware of the significance of the dash number.
If you have both of those gearboxes in front of you this would be a good time to check. Reply back with what you find, and I could update my notes.
Upper right corner. One is 2B, the other is not 2B.
So I turned the wheel while counting how many time gearbox input haft rotaded (no motor): about 5.25 revolutions per one wheel revolution. That doesn’t seem like a standard gear ratio. This is on the -4 box.
What is the state of this gearbox? On the workbench? In a car?
and both wheels up in the air?
The trick is that BOTH wheels need to turn one revolution.
I’ve done this with a spare gearbox sitting on a bench, but die to the nature of the spider gears(differential) you need to keep track of what the other output shaft is doing if you are rotating via output.
If on a workbench, it is better to turn the input shaft(counting as you go) and watch the output shafts for one full turn.
OK so I was doing it wrong! Apperently you need turn both wheels lol. So I can confirm the following:
Label Information:
Schafer Driveline
10-29-2014
012AS115-4
1824132
2B
Gear Rario: 10.35/1
Label Information:
Schafer Driveline
11-12-2012
012AS115 1
3235416
2A
Gear Ratio: 12.44/1
This is great info. Didn’t realize they made 2 different ratios from 2013-2015 Gems
Slowly peeling the onion.
Thanks xlr8 - This info went into my notes.
Yeah and each came with a different size motor. The 10.35 came with a larger, longer, 7hp motor by AMD, GU3-4002. 12.44 came with 5hp GE 5BC49JB6007. Makes sense since you’re losing torque with smaller ratio gear box.
