I was thinking the same thing.
Based on the announced defects in some modules I am guessing the legal eagles at GM will insist on destroying them.
Sure but what dealers are told to do and what they actually do are two different things. I worked for Ford for over 30 years and even though dealers were told to destroy certain parts it rarely happened. Probably the most successful recall was the Firestone recall where dealer were told to take a hole saw and cut out the tire date code and send the cut out back to Ford. Of course this was many months into the recall when Ford figured out the recalled tires were just being resold or used by the Technicians for their personal cars and trucks.
Good timing for me. I will soon be out of the new batteries.
Bet there is nothing wrong with Bolt batteries. Less fires than ice cars.
Mostly sw issues if I was to guess.
I agree that there are fewer fires than in ICE cars. However the issue is more than software. Per the GM letter “torn anode tab and folded separator”
Here’s a graphic
My guess is that because “batteries” are dangerous there will be very specific instructions on what to do with the bad packs, most likely shipped back to LG for “further review”
Just so they leave my
alone.
I believe the only way they want all the batteries back is if they have value. The shipping costs would be astronomical and the bean counters would need to see a profit. I’m sure LG already knows exactly where they went wrong.
I was thinking this was the opportunity they were waiting for to collect them all and crush them, ala the EV1.
That is probably because the Ford employees knew it was not a tire issue which was causing the Ford Explorer rollover accidents, it was under pressuring them because they failed to design the suspension properly for the CG of the vehicle. Blaming the tire was a marketing move.
Or has some other reason been exposed for the Ford Exploder debacle?
