Cover for rear battery access

2005…e2. Under the trunk is a cover for rear battery access. It’s held on by plastic screws screwed into plastic hole inserts. Anybody found a way to reattach the cover…like drywall anchors or such.

I use 3 anchors that came with it without the screw and only one anchor with a screw. It was tough to get out and I haven’t had any issues with it popping off with that method of attachment.

How about some Velcro

Get plastic push in automotive trim retainers. Any automotive supply.

i put 4 little velcro squares on all of my gem covers . those factory anchors suck . easy to get on and off and they stay well attached .

@Bolanger I epoxied “Speed nuts” to the bottom side of the Spat like these

This is the fastener I use for all my battery installs.
