2016 E4 High Voltage Conversion in SD

The original one you sent. Changed it to 250 speed, I installed it, turned on the key and all was good. Then I saw your note about the throttle. Changed the throttle settings to what Dave posted, off to the races.

I’ll have to figure out how to clone the config onto the Steve controller.

What was the max speed ???

Not sure… I need to find a good stretch where I can really punch it. Also, my eyes aren’t terrible but I try to wear my glasses at night when driving. Didn’t have them with me so I didn’t want to tear down the street without. I’ll find out and report back.

Yesterday I think I hit 42 mph before it error-ed out. That was before I charged it too.

The looks I get buzzing around with the body off is hilarious. People don’t know what to make of me.

Easy. Save dcf and send dcf to the other.
Won’t always work, but these controllers are clones.
Use unique names for files.

Oh, and send a copy to me so I can find the issue. Inquiring minds need to know.

So another successful Conversion!!

Over 40mph and I get scared lol

Will do. Calling it quits for tonight but I’ll grab the modified Mike file and one from Steve’s controller.

@MikeKC What do you think is different in the garnt file that you sent me?

I’ll send you mine too Dave so you can compare them all. Earnie Mike, grant, me, yours

Not a ton of major changes but I tuned it for a long time. Don’t remember a the changes.

I don’t want to make a lo off topic but mine does a little noise when it’s parked. Like if the motor was receiving just a little power I believe this is the Holding. Right?

I think that is correct. I was going to try and turn that off.

Yes, nice when you have hills. Vestige from C-zone I bet.
Or it could be anti roll away.

Funny that Grant does not have the issue. S4 vs S6 maybe?

I like that function but we don’t have any hills in FL. However I think it should be active when it’s in D or R.
In my case its holding even in Neutral.

real question is how easily can I do another 2016 e4 now that I’ve done it once. Now that I know everything I need, goal would be to see if I can get it done in a weekend. @smspring already has the upgraded gears which will save some time.

I’d call it a challenge

@Erniea15 the speedometer function on bms LCD is functional. It only needs a scaler board to divide motor encoder pulses down to a useful count.
Or you can add a hall switch to a rotating part.

@Erniea15 - you should be able to do it in a long weekend. Battery mounting and routing some of the wire should be the longest. If you need help saving and loading the DCF on the other controller just let us know.
Nice work!

You guys are on it, great stuff. I’ll shoot over my email address to send the updated DCF file if you don’t mind. Thank you.

Original plan was to use get a cheap android tablet and mount it to the dash, use the thunderstruck CAN Translator to get me controller data and speed. I guess we’ll see if this is an option when the thing shows up.

Saving I think figured out, just a matter of connecting to the controller and clicking Save DCF. It’s loading a DCF from a file and then writing it to the controller that I haven’t figured out. Maybe I was just starring at the DVT too long yesterday. Thank you for all the help and paving the way. Car is much more functional with this conversion.
