2015 e6 change algorithm to agm

Hello all,I have a 2015 e6 that I am getting rid of gel,and putting in agm. I have read and read how to change the algorithms, but doesn’t work. 72 volt delta q is flashing 24 right now, but I can’t get it to change. What am I doing wrong? I have trojan 8v t875-AES to install

Don’t let it get to you. Changing battery profiles on a DQ is the most user hostile interface anyone could have ever come up with. I’m not sure who decided that was a good idea other than the intent was to keep cars coming back to service centers for work.

The timing needs to be perfect when flipping/tapping to get into service mode. Then, one is never sure what you will find in there so you need to have a pad/pen handy to scribble down the loaded profiles as you scroll through the loaded list. Hopefully, you have the target algorithm you need and can select it without mistake, else it drops out and you need to start over.

Some have the talent, some might not. Sometimes it is just Tuesday and you need to come back later and try again. Curse words seem to help, along with the threat/image referenced of the charger about to fly through the air and making a finned impression in the drywall across the garage.

Most of us that work on these often enough have invested in the programming software and cable that make it easier, but there are some chargers that STILL refuse to program/communicate and make a simple job way more complicated than it needs to be.

Where are you located again? As a final act. You might send the charger to one of us for a quick inspection and reprogram for you. (Shipping and convenience fees may apply).

To prepare to change the algorithm on a Delta Q on most GEM cars you will need 2 pieces of insulated electrical wire about 6 feet long connected to a momentary pushbutton switch.
The reason for this is that you will be flat on your back where you can see the indicator lights on the DQ while changing the setting.
Let’s get started.
Shut the main switch off.
Disconnect the red wire coming from the charger at the B+ (battery plus) post.
Connect one of your pushbutton wires to the post and position the other end under the cart in a comfortable position.
Connect the other wire to the charger red wire..
Turn on the main switch.
THE HARDEST PART OF THE PROCEDURE IS GETTING THE CHARGER IN SETUP MODE.
Get under the cart in a comfortable position where you can plug and unplug the charger.
Reach up and plug in the charger. The indicator will flash the current code for 11 seconds in yellow then time out and flash red.
Unplug the charger for 15+ seconds to let it reset.
WE”RE READY TO GO
Plug the charger in and push the button for a bit less than one second (count 1-1000) ¾ of a second is too short, more than a second is too long. If it continues to flash the algorithm for more than 11 seconds YOU’RE IN!!!. If it red lights, you have to start over.
When you’re in, you have 2 minutes to tap the button for a bit less than 4 secounds, count 1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000, 4-unh. Under 3 seconds is too short, over 4 seconds is too long. If you got It. it will flash the new algorithm. If you red light, start over.
Repeat until you reach your desired algorithm. THEN
Hold the button down for 10 seconds, or until you hear the charger click indicating your new setting is stored.
Unplug the charger and shut off the main switch. Remove your setup wiring and connect the red charger wire to the post.
YOU’RE DONE!!!

EXCEPT: some of the DeltaQ chargers will not accept programs other than what the factory put in there originally.. And in my case, AGM batteries wasn’t one of them. I sent it off to get it reprogrammed and even paid to have it done, but it didn’t work. Back and forth twice to AZ and it had to be put back to Gel. (He didn’t test it the first time because the programmer said it worked). They did refund the money I sent them but not the original shipping. No biggie.. but DeltaQ specifically says that these chargers, like mine from a 2002 e825, can not be programmed for AGM or LiPo.

Later versions had agm loaded. Older versions need non-Gem agm profiles added, but after programming can not go back to Gem profiles.

You probably should have mentioned this in your first post (9 days ago).

What Serial number is your charger? Hopefully it starts with DQCP with a black dot or later.

When you have the charger hooked up to the interface cable, and charger plugged into wall power, does it show up in your programming window?

Can you see the other profiles it has loaded?
How many are there? I think you can only have 10. You might need to delete one of them.

I just borrowed this from a local shop. They didn’t have any luck with what they were trying to do,so it was sitting on the shelf. Yes it shows 6 different algorithms stored. I can’t get the new algorithm file to load. It says the language is wrong,but have no ide what that means

What profiles do you have in there now?

Same thing I ran into when trying to have mine reprogrammed for AGM batteries.. It won’t accept that profile.

It has 6 codes in it. Most were gel settings, and 1 lead acid setting

I can do it. So should anyone programming chargers. You sent it to the wrong guy.

For anyone needing cheap or free help. Answer Byrons questions as though you were paying attention. And if you are not proven to be a pita, he will do most anything for you.
Myself, on the other hand, will only give free advice. I decided things that take my time, deserve compensation. Experience has taught me that any inovation posted, will be stolen and sold.

The first thing you need to do is answer Byrons question. He’s trying to help, but can’t without cooperation.

This will tell you if it’s a Polaris or generic charger. Also need to know what sw is loaded.

I don’t know why new profile wouldn’t load. It will usually load, even non compatible versions. But then we don’t know what you have nor what you tried to load.

This is why Byron, being the Gem guru, walks away, after a few non productive posts.
