A couple years back @Old_Houseboater posted a thread with a photo & directions /dimensions on where to drill a new pivot hole in your brake pedal arm to increase hydraulic pressure. The caveat being you could blow the seals in the pistons or master cylinder but he had tested it and at the time had not damaged anything and gained a noticeable increase in braking power.
Sweet, iāll have to look and see if i can find thatā¦ thanks
I havenāt really dug in yet, but have read some and received some info on programming. I am really interested in learning how to do this as well. I have a 2002 E2 with short stakebed. Been resurrecting it this year with new wheels and tires, new batteries, refinished front hood/mud flaps, and will be looking to do brake and motor upgrade next year.
I do not have any equipment to program yet, so any and all info you would like to share and teach i would be greatly appreciated. You can message if you donāt want to post it all here if you like.
Im going to go ahead ressurrect this post again 2yrs later lol. Looking for all the info on how to connect to my e2 and change the speed limiter. I know I can buy a cord and download the software on a laptop but how to do it all is a mistery.
Hereās the deal. The software is ancient and probably not going to be updated. Itās not very intuitive, and even a bit dodgy. I hear you canāt even run the software on too new of a laptop.
A single user probably wonāt get very much out of diving into the inner works of the controller unless you want to spend countless hours tinkering with almost no visible results that you even did anything. There is only minimal documentation as to what the settings do and how they relate to each other.
Those that have been playing with it for a while are usually support to locals and see many cars and configs and really only tweak a few numbers. If all you want to do is change the speed limiter, it has been thwarted by the creation of the Magic Magnet.
Programming the GE controllers is actually a dying craft based on 20 year old hardware. If you want to invest your time in something worthwhile, the real fun stuff is happening in AC.
The software for the old GE controllers is āGE Sentry v4.07ā
If you look around a bit on the internet, you can find places to download it from. All the installation and usage instructions should be in the zip file.
The catch is that If all you want to change is the max top end speed, itāll likely be cheaper, safer and easier to just buy a magic magnet from @inwo. No learning curve on an MM, you just set the dip switches and plug it into the motor RPM pickup wiring.
There are really no safeties in the software, you can probably screw stuff up in the controller or program it in such a way that you end up with a damaged motor or possibly damaged controler.
If you are going to go the software routte, you may be able to borrow a cable if you know someone with one, or find one on ebay or get one from FSIP. The program and the cables were designed for old serial ports. Not all USB to serial adapters will work. Itās kind of hit and miss.
Hey I want to add a speaker set up the amp im using excepts up to 24v and I would like to run it around that for best sound quality. Is there anywhere to tap into 24v asside from two of the batterys? If I go off two batterys is that bad verse tapping into and just using the 12v under dash.
Move the pivot point on the brake pedal.
