Have made great progress on building a hybrid 4x4 utility vehicle, solar gasoline and plugin are now all working thanks to the Magnum inverter charger.
I want to add electric start to my Honda DCX3000 generator. This is basically the EU3000IS but with a 48VDC charge controller instead of an inverter. I can buy the recoil/elec start setup for about $150, but I was really interested in cranking the Honda GX200 engine with the 3kW PMG on the back.
I considered using a 3 pole double throw contactor to swap the stator poles to a sensorless BLDC motor controller for starting (while cranking was active) and then reconnects the stator to the generator’s systems.
Any thoughts or feedback on this? I know it would be cheaper to do it with recoil/elect kits.
