I just picked up a GEM to Buy & Sell it needs some TLC and one of the many Items it needed was some Shock Bushings. OldHousboater had some
bushings made up so I decided I would try them out on this car and at $5 you cant go wrong.
Here they Are
As you can see I pushed out my old ones already,
You will need a Vice.
When you push your old rubber Bushings out you will need to keep the Metal
sleeve. You simply slice the rubber with a rasor and this is what you will be left with.
The sleeve will have a pretty good bur all around it from being smashed. Smart thing to do is Grind all the way around this sleeve so it slides into the Nylon bushing with no drama.
This is what they will look like when your done
Now Using your vice & a Socket that will fit over the New bushing use the vice to press in the Metal Sleeve into the bushing, De-Burred side first
This is what a bushing looks like after the metal sleeve is pressed in. The sleeve sticks out just a bit on either side
I used another socket to allow the sleeve to push further into the bushing and center the sleeve in the bushing
Now Press your new bushings into the shock
Grant
Thanks. Plese post this in the DIY section also so other owners will see it.
