I lost the links to successful front mount sdi-22 modules. Posting again.

Loosen back plate and move out a couple inches. Leave it loose until battery is in place. If you cut plate in the offset area, only the controller side needs to be moved.
See picture. Plate has been cut and gray spacers hold controller out enough for battery to be partially under dash.

Notice the vertical cut line on back plate?

Cut only top extrusion from crossmember. Cuts easily with high speed steel coarse wood blade in sawsall. Some used angle grinder. Messy.

Cutting sdi battery cover for fittment between crossmembers under dash.
Cover terminals with fiberglass sheet or equal. Gains the 1/2" needed.

I put a thin aluminum shelf under the battery. Mainly for a splash guard. Use your own judgment. Supplied vinyl cover top.

I can supply shelf and cut cover if i know battery is for front mount 2002.
