just sent PayPal from my email 1mge@comcast.net with note & my PayPal address. Do you have instructions or pic to show where/how to install? Plug & play correct? My son is pretty good when it comes to golf cart motors and car stereo wiring/install. thx again
Hey @Mikey -
It may also be worth noting the obvious(since your son is into other carts), going faster is not always a free lunch. More speed comes at a cost of less range.
→ Make sure the battery pack is up to the task.
→ Brakes too.
The +5 mph you just acquired might cut your previous range in half. Do some range tests yourself. Don’t go too far or get in the habit of bringing a charge cord in case you get caught out/away and don’t want the neighbors seeing you pushing your car home.
More than you want to know
The MM simply releases the governor/speed limiter that is programmed into the controller. It doesn’t MAKE your car go faster, it ALLOWS your car to go faster.
Any speed gains are simply due to released potential.
Some other factors that typically hold a car back: Things to watch for
- Dragging brakes
- Under inflated tires
- Wider tires than stock(such as off road tread/atv tires)
- Weak/tired old batteries
- Dirty/corroded/loose battery connections
- worn out/smoked motor
- Motor in need of service. (stuck brush)
With all the above in ideal conditions, how much speed you gain depends on a couple of factors.
- Tire diameter
- Gearbox ratio.
- Grade of the cliff you just drove off
Yes, speed is fun, but also watch downhill speeds. With the MM installed, the limiter is now on the high end of motor RPM. It’s real easy to spin the motor up close to 7k before the limiter actually kicks in.
just forwarded to my son and yeah he’s taken club cars to the frame and built back up to sell, he always tells people there is such a thing as too fast on these short wheel bases! We have quite a few 30mph local roads so in his mind just 30mph would be a “game changer” so cars don’t ride your bumper going 25 in a 30 zone.
