I just bought a 2001 e825 with no doors. How safe are the electronics in the rain? While i intend to get soft side doors, budget forces me to wait a month or two. Meanwhile, if it rains in from the sides, how safe are the electronics under the dash?
They should be extremely safe. Have you taken the dash off and looked at how any water on it could get onto the electronics beneath? hint, you know how an umbrella works…
If not, I highly recommend you remove the two Phillips screws across the lower windshield, then gently pull out the lower dash lip a little bit all the way around and lift it up. Notice the plastic flap across the front windshield the dash lip goes forward of.
