New Wheels and tires on 2001 E4

Rear will require a little adjustment to put the fenders back on… Tires are 195/50-16. I am glad I had to remove the rear fenders as I discovered this:

The lower shock bolt is keeping it together. Going to have to do some welding…

Looks sharp. I am a big fan of white cars with black wheels.

So both sides were broken off:

Ready to install this swivel rear axle:

Anyone with experience using one of those? Hope it solves this known issue.

Pure curiosity, where did you find that different design replacement sub-frame?

Very common problem. Weld em up.

I found this rear axle on Ebay

Does it look beefier than the original?

Its on and it is stronger than the original. Turns out that it is narrower so I will have to weld the original with the reinforcement plates and put it back on.

I have now my stock rear axle back on. This one is available if someone on the forum wants it (200 plus 50 for shipping). Remember that it is narrower so most likely needs to go on a 2 seater utility GEM I think.

Interested. Please email me lesterval12@yahoo.com
