Yeah the cheaper lithiums were perfect for me as my town is 1 sq mile. My batteries went bad so I upgraded. It might be 2 weeks between charges for me given how few miles I drive even though I drive it every day

Sorry I haven’t had another update. I painted my gem and somehow caused an electrical problem. I keep blowing the display fuse. So it hasn’t been drivable. I am going to again try to find the wire that is causing it today.
Update. I’m at 18.2 miles now with 56% charge left. But I accidentally left the lights on all night last night.

Now at 29% and 27.7 miles. I have a lead foot and do 25 everywhere
Ok…. So if I follow you, we are looking at about a 30 Mile range under “get out of my way” conditions with the lights on. That’s about what I expected. I have a Ford Think and interested in the magnet, I just installed lithium and running 15” wheels, topping out at 28 mph.
I don’t have feedback from Th!nk users. It may or may not be useful. Some cars will run without speed sensor. The only advantage then would be restoring speedometer function, albiet not accurately.
My speedometer on the cart isn’t working properly, showing 8mph at top speed. I’ve been using phone app. What would you suggest to get 5+ more mph?
Fix speedometer first.
In theory, if speedo (and controller) believes the car is only going 8 mph and you are actually going 28(gps), then the controller is not limiting speed. There is something else holding your car back.
You say you are running 15 in tall wheels? (total??)
That is probably your limit right there. My calculations put the motor at 6500 rpm. (given the gearbox ratio of 10.3)
If your thunk is “surgung” at its maximum speed, then you are being held back by the “Maximum Oversoeed” parameter in the E2 controller. You may be able to go faster by raising that parameter or possibly using an MM.
If your thunk runs smooth at top speed, thats all your drive tran will do. You will need higher voltage to the motor, taller tires or taller gears.
For s Think, taking the stock 4hp GE motor over 6k rpm may be risky. Not sure what bearings were used in it. D&D Systems has a 6.5 or 7hp think motor that can spin redlined at about 8500 rpm
That’s about the safe limit for the spicer gearbix stock bearings too.
A note on programming the controller in a think, it is an E2 not a T2. Do not use the GEM T2 mdb file. There are subtle differenxes in the controller. Parameter order is different. I should have a cooy of the E2 file somewhere. PM me if you need it.
@AssyRequired iirc, thinks had 10.0:1 gearboxes. Its a minor difference, but remember they were RWD.
The 4hp GE motor was slighty didferent than the short ge that Gem used. In not sure if they are cross compatable.
