Lists of Alternative and Superseded Parts

Check Ebay

Checking, don’t know the right shoes that I need. Do you have a number or description?

Hmmm

I’ve never seen a GEM car that needed 4 sets of brake shoes. How many miles on this puppy?

I have been looking at NEV for a while, they are about to go up for sale so I was looking around for any other sources. So far this is best price out there for quality shoes.

do you need die casting and cnc machine

There must be some massive savings on alternative parts?

Does anyone one have an alternate for the front shocks? mine are blown and was hoping someone had something else that fit.

Front shocks are a bit tricky, I encountered an issue when I was attempting to upgrade mine to progressive 416 air suspension. They are 13.25" from the factory. The ones on eBay are sold from NEV at 120$, they are your best bet. They will easily bolt in and require no modifications to be made to the the shock towers. I have a post that shows what happens when you try to use grade 8 bolts to push the shocks out. FAIL.
I just got new OE Front shocks to replace the ones I have on there now, they are not in bad shape I may consider selling them

I will try to keep stock.

I have a source for others. 2 weeks.

Define blown. Are they leaking?

yes they are all leaking.

following up on the shock question. I noticed the 2002 I have the shock has completely compressed down and is no longer functional with the car leaning now. Is there no aftermarket shocks that cross reference to these? Also are there any differences between the 2002 and the 2005 shocks? I only ask because if not I can steal one from the parts car while I order a new one.

Early series goes thru 2004. 2005 front shocks are different.

Shocks for early series are about 13 1/4 inches center to center.

Headlight bulbs for the Gems with the Newer Larger headlight buckets like my 2013 and I have seen the same bucket on the 08 Special Edition. These are the Large Headlight bulbs

Part Number 6235b
35 watt bulb
replaces A7375/410-5019
Brand Name: Eiko

Polaris part number 5414407 is the motor bushing/bumper that is between the motor and input shaft.

There are. A few thousand dollars on four GEMs over the past dozen years or so. This list is the ultimate “cheat sheet.”

I cannot figure out how to edit my list, so here are a few more parts i have discovered:

GEM (replacement) inner tie rod end NAPA 269-5088
GEM (replacement) outer tie rod end NAPA 269-2419

GEM does not sell inner tie rod ends. It is no longer necessary to replace the whole rack for $600 if an inner tie rod fails. These VW Rabbit parts must be installed together and will work on the left or right side. Trim 0.1" (one thread) off the male thread of the new inner tie rod where it threads in the rack. Trim 0.5" (a few threads) off the female thread of the new outer tie rod end where it receives the inner tie rod end. Adjust for proper toe.

The master cylinder is 30206-AC from AC Delco. About $45 at O’Reilly or other auto parts store.
