I thought some would be interested in knowing that a EV should have a J1772 charging recepticle in the fuel door instead of a 110/220 vac plug for home use. The J1772 should be available with security at a public charging station using the fuel door. This will give you mode 2 charging 220vac for up to 75amp. A second 110/220vac plug could be installed elsewhere, maybe under the hood, for home and friendly charging either 110vac 15a or 220vac 35amp. If your charger uses more than 15amp on the 110vac, you cannot use the public charger and will be stranded. Design your conversion as much like a production car as possible. White button on fuel door is for charger interlock and dashboard charging LED.
