In need of help.

Just got a 2000 e825 and after replacement of the batteries turned on key and burned out the dc converter board. Have new one coming but afraid to but it in and burn it out. Car has been sitting for 2 years outside. And how should I test the solenoid. Should I worry about the new board shorting out?

When you say “DC converter” and then mention “a Board”. Are you talking about the original gem DC to DC converters that are a open and exposed Circut board? I can’t speak on them other then they are very Unreliable and burn out by looking at them sideways. Most people upgrade to the new DC to DC converters From “Sure Power” my advise is don’t waste your time with a “Circuit Board” DC to DC converter get the new sure power one and move on to the next electrical gremlin.

Here is a link to what I’m talking about on eBay.

Thanks for the info. One more question what does a slow blinking green battery charger light mean. It blinks green for alittle bit then stops charging.

Hey TONY:

To better help you. It’s best to give us information. Like What kind of charger are we talking about. Gem cars came with 3 different styles of chargers Delta Q, Zivan, Schott, no one here is a mind reader. Most people just go to the next thread and you will not get help if you don’t include the right info so people can help you example here is how you post should go.

Hi I have a (insert your year car)

I have a (insert your brand of charger)

It’s doing this (insert your problem)

You will find if you include all the information and or pictures many people (myself included) will do our best to help you

Its a 2000 e825 can’t read info on charger.

Tony: that’s a Schott Charger. That was a factory charger on all early gems. Most cars run either a Zivan or Delta Q. Now that we know what charger your running perhaps some one can chime in and help us. I don’t know to much about the Schott Chargers

Highly recommend getting the dc/dc converter replaced/upgraded and go from there first. Call a Gem dealer and run the vin for any service bulletins to see if it applies. After that is done bypass the charger interlock, if no avail bypass the relay in the new dc/dc kit.
