Has anyone ever heard of this?

Hi, I am new to EV conversion, currently working on a scooter conversion to learn as I go…so this may be one of “those questions”, however, I am simply curious…

  1. Has anyone ever tried to use an actual 110 or 220VAC motor with a commercial inverter run off of a battery or series of batteries to power an EV?

  2. Is it possible to find a 110/220VAC variable speed motor that produces enough “HP” and torque to test this theory?

Thanks in advance for your replies…

  1. yes

  2. yes

Look on EValbum, there’s a couple.

The issue being, even though you use a normal inverter, you put the Pack voltage across the DC buss, and its likely got to be above 400V. Some are closer to 600V.
