Hello all, I replaced auxiliary battery under dash. It continues to die on me over a few week span. What keeps this battery charged, and what can be draining it? ELXD MODEL 2018
Are you sure it is being drained or is it just not being charged. Disconnect the neg terminal and with EVERYTHING Turned off put a test light between the bat terminal and the cable. If the light lights up there is a draw of some kind. . If not, then connect the bat, then measure the voltage. Then plug it in to charge and see if the voltage rises. Im guessing it won’t. If it doesn’t, then it’s not getting charged and I would have the charger looked at unless one of the other guys has some input.
Aux battery charges from dc-dc converter whenever car is active.
See if aux battery voltage rises when key is on.
If not, relay may be bad or missing.
Reseat connector on dc converter, known failure point.
Hey,thank you so much for the input. I will check this tomorrow. Right now,it is dead. Dash doesn’t come on at all. I will check voltage.
Check what @Inwo said, unplug the dc dc connector and squeeze the female pins so they can make a good contact
Ok,I did this test with no light showing. Plugged the cart in,and voltage didn’t change on the auxiliary battery.
Battery dropped when car was turned on. Voltage went down. Where do I find the dc to dc converter, and where is the relay?
I don’t know where it is located? I followed the wires coming to the battery. They lead to the front where there is a plastic cover. Im guessing the controller is in there
Not sure on that model… assyrequired would. Hopefully he will chime in soon. But at least now you know it’s a charging issue…
Uh … this has come up before, you might want to check some of the recent posts in the meantime.
Dc converter is under motor controller. Under hood extreme front.
Remove that plastic and you’ll see the motor controller, the dc dc converter is underneath of it
Thank y’all very much. Also, someone mentioned a relay. Is this something I need to ck also?
Ok, thank you I will ck into it.
dc-dc relay must be installed and working. Furthest relay to driver side.
Ok i will take a look
I checked this one. It clicks when it first comes on,then it clicks 2 more times. Is this the right relay???
I followed your directions, but when key is turned on,the voltage still slightly drops about a 10th of a volt. I tightened up all 4 female contacts
I think the relay in question is on your OTHER Drivers side.
Far right. Upper cube?
Inwo: dc-dc relay must be installed and working. Furthest relay to driver side.
Ok I got some bad info on the pic then. Stand by
