Field weakening

Go the other way and set it at 100
Losing confidence as aux. FW has no effect.

To check, I lowered F7 from 65 to 60. Can’t really feel a difference.
going from 65 to 55 well add a few mph on the top end providing your hitting 25 on the speedo ( which with your mm your not)
check your max speed @ 65 then do it at 55 and tell us the results.

Already going as fast as I dare.
34MPH 17 on speedometer.
No change from F7 65-60.

I’ll try 55 and see if I get there sooner.

Understand, not looking for more speed. Trying to learn effects, and compare to aux. field weakening.

Thats what lower numbers give you I wouldn’t go that low on a 5 hp

you should get a few mph higher but u might trade off a little acceleration from mid speed to top mph . field weakening only gets applied at the higher rpm throttle positions . look forward to hearing you results . my guess 65 to 55 gives u 2 more mph top end but the last 2 well take some time to get there . make sure u have a long runway to test .
so you would setup the onboard to just charge the 6 gels , then put the lithium at the end of the series and charge it with its own charger?

as long as the gels would discharge quicker then the lithium it should work .

Dave you have some very creative ideas!
Got a quote for ten single cell lithium chargers (3.65v) delivered. $35 each.

If anyone wants in, let me know. Glad to share!

This could be an inexpensive performance boost.

Or a way to play with lithium technology before jumping in.:clap2:
Which is my plan for a 48v cart.

Kinghappy may find help finding best price on a 100ah cell.

what amp hour are they ?

Hey guys, start a new thread. We need to weaken the field not install LiPo’s

Rodney

Guys

There are 3 settings on T3 and T4 controllers that wake up a stock cart.

Field factory settings are usually 100, 85 or 65 depending on the cart, the motor and the wheel size

Speed setting is 245 which gives 25 MPH

Max armature can be 218, 245 or 255

With out doing any thing else and making NO other changes the cart can be made lively and gain 1 MPH. By changing the following settings.

Reduce field setting to 65 on 5hp motor 58 on 7hp motor

Increase speed setting to 255, Will give you 26 MPH

Set Max armature at 255 (you probably wont feel this unless you fully load the cart)

These 3 settings will increase owner satisfaction more than anything you can do to the cart.

Other setting changes that can affect speed include gear ratio and tire size.

If your on flat ground most guys disable regen,

The rest of the settings should remain FACTORY

Rodney

What I’m finding is lowering minimum field, alone, has no noticeable effect.

I’m at 55 now with 7hp motor.

Need an under-performing car to test.
Should have my 2010 5hp fixed soon.

I’ll raise the speed and max A amps, and call it good.

Dave

Raise it back to the factory 85 or 65 and you will see the difference in performance. You will then love 55.

I assume that your max armature is at 255

Rodney

No, I wanted to see what FW alone would do.

Like I say, stock performance is fine.

You may be right though, making small changes, masks effects.

Their synergistic

Armature and speed are 255 now.
min fld is 65
27 with no MM.

Next I’ll try min fld 55
