Hey all,
Picked up a factory lithium/fast charge E6 sight unseen.
It just arrived and I’m showing no signs of life when it’s plugged in.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated

I am getting an error showing up on my in garage EV charger
Can’t you just plug 120VAC directly into the charger or is it directly wired to the J1772 socket?
Your home EV Level 1/2 expects some handshaking with the J1772 and IIRC that can be as basic as a resistor jumping between some of the communications pins.
What was wrong with the stock charger?
I’ve tried my Juice box pro and a 110v J1772 charger.
Seems like a Coms error.
I’m not familiar with the factory lithiums, is there a 12v accessory battery? Would that keep it from communicating?
I guess that plugging it in would be the second most common step when getting one of these (first being → turn the key).
I’m thinking the next would be to bust out your meter and see where the voltages are. Probe the batteries directly. Find out what you got in there.
Also note that (sometimes) the newer cars have a little Acc battery (not part of the main pack) that will bring down the whole car if it is not happy.
Start cleaning her up too. Poor thing!
What’s the location of the 12v battery?
Also the charging door was missing, it’s been exposed to the elements for who knows how long
I’m not sure. I think it was in under the dash. It was like a motorcycle battery.
What year is this car?
Go out and see if you can find an owners manual. Maybe even a service manual if you really want to keep this car.
What is your intended use of this car?
It’s a 2018.
I use the e6’s for my real estate business
And? What is the V?
(Just like JrJava’s nightmares involving aliens)
This is going to involve some probing.
Thanks everyone for their help. Much appreciated!
If I have to explain that to you sailor, we are most certainly doomed.
ya, bugs me too when they don’t post what the specifics were and just say, that was it and it’s now working. 12V battery was probably 0V and the OP put a 12v charger on it which quickly hit 12.xV and then he tried the charger and it worked… but we have to guess because to them all that matters is it works. No idea the details others have to dig through in their heads to piece together even a few tests.
Yep, Kissed off and left in the gutter poking around for a cig butt that might have one more drag left on it.
Off in the distance a solo sax is haunting the air.
Broke my voltage meter so I just replaced the 12v battery for $60.
Once the 12v was replaced the error code disappeared.
