Has anyone seen a secondary failure caused by running the cart battery down too low?
Friend has a Yamaha where they plugged the charger into a dead outlet, didn’t know it, and then ran the battery(lead acid) down until it stopped and they had to push it home. I got the batteries charging again and to a full charge but it’s acting like the Contactor has failed.
Has anyone seen a secondary failure from the high current condition of low battery voltage and then shutdown? I figure this would likely be common to many carts/NEVs.
Ya, the only thing which popped into my head was if the controller was somehow sensing power for control and increased current with voltage sagging thereby stressing something like the contactor with higher currents than normal. Other than that, I was hoping they just hit the Tow/Run switch by mistake or when pushing it home but it was still in Run mode.
Backup beeper doesn’t sound so I’m liking your idea of the controller needed a hard reset/restart.
@Inwo that was it. The guy’s jaw dropped and he even tested it a second time as I was starting to leave.
It’s a loaner cart as the owners are out of town but the family is enjoying it so much they are considering getting one of their own. The more carts the merrier. Thanks for the idea of trying the hard reset.
