Driving max time

I wonder what the reasoning behind that not wanting AGM batteries is? I love em because they don’t out gas like regular lead acid batteries and there is no water to deal with.

Happy New Year all forum members!

I plugged in the charger with master key off. The yello light blinked once then 4 timed then it was repeated one more time. after that, the red light kept blinking twice and pause for a second.

I need to report important info. I left the car at the workshop for 10 days because of the x-Mass and new year holiday. the last reading was around 12.6 and when I took the reading after that 10 days it was as follows.

12.60 Battery one
12.51
12.50
12.47
12.50
12.49

I plugged in the charger but Something very strange happened!!! in less that a minute, Battery on en volt jumped to 16.10 and the other 5 batteries jumped to 15.3 approx. I disconnected the charger immediately. After 30 mins, the 6 batteries volt returned back to almost same reading taken before plugging in the charger!! Looks for me like, the jumped volts were not true.

By the way, I received the converter from U.S.A and already installed and working fine.

Appreciate your instructions.

kind regards

The flash being → one [pause] four [repeat] tells me that charger is using #14 -

That appears to be not the best setting for your AGM batteries, but your monitoring of the charge process shows that it is running wildly high. I count that up over 96v before you unplugged the charger.

Can you verify/double check your meter readings are correct? Best is to check against another meter.

Can you take a pic of the Model # label on the charger?

Also - verify where you fastened the white wire coming from the charger and that the temp sensor under the seat is connected.

Hello dear and thanks for the message.

Attached is the required photos. pls note that i couldn’t find the white wire coming from the charger. the sensor orange wire is connected as you can see.
Just a clarification, are telling me to leave the charger charging the set till they reach 96V before unplugging it? This means average volt per battery will reach 16 v ( 96 V / 6 batteries). is that fine or i misunderstood and doing th is will damage the batteries because i remember, earlier you told me not to charge the battery more that 14.8V max. pls clarify.

best regards

NO!!! Do NOT leave this charger plugged in unattended.
It is charging your batteries way too high!

pls note that i couldn’t find the white wire coming from the charger.

Try disconnecting one of the orange wires going to the Temp Sensor on the batteries and re-checking the lights on the charger to see if they act different, or checking V to see if it still goes high.

I have seen some pretty crazy results if the temp sensor is bad or not hooked up properly.

The pic you show of your charger looks like a very old charger. Possibly 2005 or 2006 original Gem.
Was this not recently changed?
Do you have a source for another charger?

Are you sure? 14 is for gel batteries and will damage agms. As per Rodney.

yes i remember some chargers with Gel settings go to 96v but with low amps

I apologize. The consensus shows #14 is not good for your batteries.
(edited post above to avoid misdirection to future readers).
This thread has been going on so long that I honestly forgot what batteries you are running in this car. I had to scroll back to Oct '22 to check.

You need to check your charger to see what profiles may be loaded, and possibly switch to something else.

This is not always an easy task. Some people find it very difficult to perform this procedure.

Scroll through what profiles are loaded and report what you have.
Early Gem cars had special Gem ONLY profiles loaded. (see list above in post #223.
If this is what you have, you could try #13 or #32.

Some chargers may not even have this ability or may not have any other profiles loaded. If you are unable to make this change you should be looking for another charger.

Hello dear,
A friend of mine forwarded me such useful email which he received from Delta Q manufacturer regarding charging profile # an fb how to set by manual process an d a video. Still I don’t know how to reset it to # 8 which is recommended for AGM as per the manufacturer. Appreciate your help.
Best regards

Yes, Those are the instructions. Read them closely and watch the video. Try to get the charger into programming mode and look to see if #8 is loaded on your charger.

Otherwise, see if you have a shop in your area that can provide you with that service.

Ok, I prefer to find a workshop who can help.
Kind regards
