DQ remote display

Now I will install the remote LED in the dash some where

What’s the verdict?

Is one led enough?
Will others be ok opening the charger?

Well it’s very basic. It does the job. But it gives you no feed back as far as how far along your in your charge cycle you are. The green light flashes the whole time. It’s not like it flashes real fast or slow it’s pretty consistent so you have no Idea if your charger is almost done or it’s got hrs to go.
It’s better then what I have now so I will run it

I’m pretty deep into the 10 led model. I’ll try to make at least one for testing.
Display on the left. Receiver on the right.

Interconnects are jst jumpers for rc battery packs, so not as bad as it looks.

You still “in” ?

That will work

By the way. I have your DQ on my car as we speak. Set it to P135/93volts
I’ll watch it to see if it steps down.
Then let my charger finish to P177/98volts.

David: I can’t believe you were able to bring that charger back to life. The pros said it was dead after they worked on it.

It’s down to from 6 to stage 5 charging dropped from 12a to 10a.

I know them inside out now. Well mostly inside.

A few more minutes, it should finish cycle.

Below stage one now. It is blinking on and off. Pulsing 1/2 amp on and off.

Strange, must check voltage between pulses for accuracy.

Should I make a few?
It would be nice to recoup some of my investment in hacking.
What would someone pay? $20
I could do it if I made 10 or so.
Less than that I’ll just publish the instructions.

Put one more together if someone needs one.
Per your advice, I used more pins to stabilize the plug.

A small shot of hot glue or silicone will do the job and insure it doesn’t pull out

May be in over my head on this one.:o
Picture of prototype.
Column of 10 photo sensors.
All indicators turned on with ambient.
All turn off properly when covered.
Problem is getting them to respond to low level yellow.

Wow: looks good. So your saying that the yellow doesn’t have enough light output to trigger the photo switches?

Yes, it’s tough to do.
Having a little more success fine tuning.
The mechanical is the challenge. Getting the holes milled properly to line up with leds.

This project is going to need a partner or just be a kit.

In any case, I have one marginal, fragile, device ready for testing.

Wire leads are short for now.
I’ll need input on how practical it is, as built.
Ideas on mounting both ends. TX and RX.
Power wiring. It’s 9v battery for testing.

Are you ready to go?

I JUST finished putting my car and charger back together LOL

I can put it on the back burner for a while.

Let me know when you get time. Can’t go forward until I get some feedback.

ooo wait what am I thinking. This will not require me to take the charger out of the car and take it apart like with the Single LED that I just installed. Your creation will be a simple install send it over I will test it right away
