Disc brake hub failure

I did the NEV Accessories disc brake conversion back in June. Been working well until a couple of weeks ago when I started hearing a grinding noise. It sounded like a half-shaft failure (also recently replaced), but when I got into it I found the disc brake conversion hub failed. Anyone else run into this? Not sure if NEV Accessories will replace under warranty, but just need the hub. Anyone run into this problem or know if I can easily get this part by itself?

From what I see, it looks like a bearing failure. A shop with a press should be able to press the bearing out and press a new one in. You may have to get the old one out to get the bearing number though. I can’t imagine a replacement bearing would be very expensive. I suppose you could inquire about warranty replacement just the same.

I had the aluminum casting of a NEVA conversion hub fail and IIRC they did replace it free.

Just to close the loop on this, NEVA is sending me a new hub, which is great.

What was the actual cause of bearing failure?
Best guess to possible cause?
That bearing looks pretty dry.
It might be worth checking the others.

How much offset are you running? Can you measure best guess to wheel center relation to the hub center?

Not sure. If I had to guess, just bad bearings… perhaps damaged by being pressed into a very slightly non-symmetrical hub? Also, like you said, dry.
They said they saw ‘a couple’ of other failures and were talking to the manufacturer about it. The other side seems fine so far.
