A friend of mine told me that he had heard that 6v batterys last longer physically than 12s. I can’t think of any reason for this to be true but maybe it is. Can anyone speak to this?

i’m not sure but from a guess i would simply guess just out of use… you usually done use 6v batteries as hard as you use 12v’s like starting cars and stuff like that…
I am pretty sure that 12v batteries have a higher internal resistance than 6v batteries. Creating less efficiancy and you can bet that will lower your distance.
