I used 1" by 4" fence boards to fill the space, to reduce the noise
The lithium battery slid in from the back
I had a cart that is about the same height as the battery tray & slid the battery in by myself
You could also just put the battery on a couple of pallets & back the GEM close enough to slide the battery in place
Where should the money be sent for the li battery?

I know iām eight years lateā¦ but here is what I found while working on my 2007 GEM E6.
The voltages on my gem were all over the place, 74 volts at the 6 - 12 volt batteries, 69 to 70 volts at the PSDM, the previous owner said āTHE BATTERIES DONāT LAST & THE CAR IS ALWAYS SLOWā OK here is the answerā¦. Check under the middle set of seats, there may be factory installed batteries under the center seats. The three 8 volt batteries I found under the seat were hooked up between the 6 batteries in the rear tray and the PSDM, two were dead shorts and one was a 1/2 volt, they were messing with the voltage & causing the batteries to die & they were in there for 18 years !

So no one noticed that 6 x 8volt = 48 volts and not 72 volts as advertised?
Math is hard. And apparently RTFMing is even harder

My guess is that whoever had it, removed the Six 8 volt batteries from the rear tray & sold the carā¦. The next guy seeing no batteries put in 72 volts worth of batteries and the trouble started thereā¦
It took me a day & 1/2 to figure it out because the extra batteries were reducing the voltage.

This happens more often than youād think, but usually only once to a new owner.
Partially due to the awkward access to the middle battery box. Who would put batteries in there!?!?!
Itās a shame since these cars would rather have weight closer to the front wheels for traction, not to mention shorter cable runs are better.
The under seat areas would at least make for great storage if they had a real floor.
