#1 Push to start.
This system is like a regular button that as long as your finger is on the button the starter is turning. (Great for old cars that don’t fire up right away) #2 one touch start
This system is for new cars. You simply touch the button one time and it starts the car.
Actually this system does #1 and #2, if you just touch it is triggers the starter wire for .74 seconds, if you push and hold it will trigger the starter wire continuous.
The wives have an issue with the key location and orientation (and issues in general ). This way they just walk up with RFDI fob and hit the start button - off they go.
Plus it just kinda cool, makes it feel like a current car.
If I understand you correctly, you, having the fob with you could drive a high performance Gem car, while a lesser skilled driver would be restricted to stock performance. A safer situation all the way around.
I’m on a low budget for the time being. In fact I have received some criticism for starting this project, but I want a zero emissions and useful car for short trips. Eventually I may be forced to address getting better performance on hills. I live in Santa Cruz, CA, and there are several steep hills in town. I am going to try “Heartbreak Hill” in a few moments because there won’t be much traffic to worry about. I am a bit concerned that the angle may be enough to cause FLA batteries to spill. I’m hoping vented does not mean liquid comes out easily.
I have the stock 10" wheels so that may help with power.
I would like to know where you got that kit, Looks like it might have more range than the one I intend to use. We have to get within 3 inches of the ant. to activate the system.
I can look for it. Been a couple years.
It’s an active device. Meaning the fob has a battery.
I have to move it 3’ away and put it in a tin box to test it turning off.
If someone wants to play with it, I’ll send it with the next MM.
