I have a 2013 Gem and the batteries and charger are new and they won’t keep a charge. There is a number on the dash E1665.7 ? And it show turtle mode but it goes fine. Any help would be appreciated.
What are the symptoms of “not keeping a charge”?
The E is displayed with the number? The wrench symbol on?
No there is not a wrench
E1665.7, the turtle mode is blinking, if left unplugged for more than a day or two the batteries will go into 10 miles per hour.
E1665.7 is just a screen on the display . Hit the trip button and it will go away . What batteries and charger did you put in ?
Turn the main switch off when done charging. Only bad batteries will self discharge.
Maybe charger isn’t finishing a correct charge cycle.
batteries come in many different types/technologies and I’m not just talking Lead, Lithium, etc ie there are different types of lead acid batteries and they charge differently. So your battery charger needs to be set according to what battery you have(wet acid, AGM, Gel, etc ) and sometimes even set to the capacity.
If the charger is not set correctly it can over charge(damaging batteries), under charge or fully charge.
This is why it was asked what batteries you have and what charger.
Attached are photos of both the charger and batteries, I have no idea what any of it means and any help is appreciated!
Thanks,

Anything to report?
It’s almost always the lead batteries or connections.
If batteries go dead when disconnected, one or more are bad or badly out of balance.
in other words, clean and inspect all battery connections including making sure the cables are well crimped and there’s no corrosion or discoloring on the connectors.
Regarding batteries, you’d need to have a digital volt meter(DVM) and know how to read the battery voltage on each battery. Unbalanced would show up as a battery with something less than 12.5V(ex: 10V).
