My flooded Gem sat for 5 months before I could get to it’s rebuild. In that time the new lead under dash battery went dead. Well that is just unacceptable.
No bms to protect my $30 lead battery, well we will fix that. Plus I’m LG so the fact I had a LEAD battery in my Gem was blasphemy. So I ordered a lithium replacement. For the fun of it decided to try a small one and see how it works. This is a 6ah lfp from Amazon. $23. cheaper than the lead replacement. This is mini me. guessing it weighs maybe 1 pound?
What are you going to do with all that extra room?
Is it protected by a mini sized BMS too?
And the Gem is 9lbs lighter! More range. Yes it has a BMS, but no Bluetooth.
But… stock voltage and only 6Ah?
Seems so uncharacteristic…
Beat me to lithium, but my idea is different. Use lithion 3s.
That way the inexpensive plug-in 72- 12v converter will work.
Lots of the cheap 12v packs on ebay are 3s. And not actually 12v nominal.
I think the stock 12v converter is just under 14v.
if so, too high for a nmc 3s setup. Where you thinking changing to a different converter?
Yes, the cheap 80v converters are 12.4v. Plug in. The 13.8 are always back ordered.
The hv conversion guys need them.
Also it is safer with a 65v battery. New converter is 36v to 106v input or such. Totally universal.

36v to 106v wow I love it. Dave do you know if they come in 4 pins for a month lug and play option? We can always make 4to5 pin harness
I bought an agm replacement at Walmart and I paid 89, I would try to get a 12ah lfp and forget about that little one for good.
I just ordered a 10ah lfp for $35. Without power steering the 6ah should be fine, the 12v battery doesn’t do much. The nice part is you can’t hurt it and it should last for 10 years.
