Realistically how far are we away from conversions costing as much as new motor swaps?

So, when it comes to EVs, i’ll be honest. with how deisgn is going i’m more interested in doing conversions on my own vehicles.

for sonething realstic, i have a 04 grand cherokee. say i want to put a direct power drop in that bolts directly to the old trans or transfecase. makes 230-250hp (nothing crazy) and with space from the motor and tank gone, get 250 miles of range, and only weighs at most 500lbs more from OE curb weight, and say it costs 7 grand. (what i just paid for a brand new motor and cooling system)
