I have a 2012 polaris gem e6 I bought at a auction. It had dead batteries i replaced all 6 with brand new pro guide flooded batteries it will only go 15 mph in high 7 mph in low and 2 mph in reverse
The motor probably needs servicing. Some of the brushes are probably hanging up in the holders and not making good, if any at all, contact with the commutator, The motors used in those e6 & the eLXD, had 8 brushes in total, two per pole (4 banks).
The other thing to check is that your brakes arenât hanging up. Simply jack up one end, so both wheels are off the ground and give each wheel a spin by hand. If the brakes on a wheel are hanging up⌠youâll know.. Itâll be hard to missâŚ
(obviously, release the parking / hand brake when you have both the rear wheels up in the air.
I will be home shortly and I can check the brakes. But it seems more like a power loss I will get back with you this evening after I check brakes. Can I service the motor? Do I need to take somewhere to have it done?

Edit: I just got home checked brakes and they are good
/shrug
I dunno, maybe?
Kind of depends on whats gone tits-up in there, how badly its hsmmered, what your experience or applicable aptitudes are with jiffy-popped up to so over nuked the microwave caught fire. Tools kina the same boatâŚ
I run it for about 20 mins and now it finally goes 25 in forward still seems weak in reverse. I forgot to mention it set up for a year or so when I bought it. Last question it had dead AGM batteries on it when I bought it and I ordered proguide flooded batteries and it killed half my battery bars before I hit 2 miles do I need different batteries or does my charger need to be changed for flooded batteries?
I donât know why you bother stopping in here for more advice and you donât bother taking it?
Did you have your motor looked at?
JJJâs suggestion is always step 1 especially after learning this car sat unused for a year. These cars hate sitting. Continuing to use a motor that needs servicing has a good chance of damaging your controller and/or your motor beyond repair.
I ordered proguide flooded batteries
do I need different batteries
Difficult to provide accurate opinion without more info as to what you bought/installed. Rough/judgement by the word âfloodedâ Iâd say you went the wrong direction or âjust wanted to see if this car would workâ/Jr starter pack. â (just my opinion tho)
or does my charger need to be changed for flooded batteries?
Chances are this is a Yes.
Flooded batteries on AGM profile will work for a while, but not properly setting the charger will eventually harm/damage your new batteries.
A drastic drop in the battery bars could also mean there is a dirty connection or a bad cable somewhere in the chain. All connections need to be âtight and bright - Rodneyâ
What you first need to do is figure out what you are doing with this car.
Then come up with a plan to best reach that goal.
Two examples on opposite agendas:
- Clean it up, spend as little as possible, get it rolling, flip it for a quick buck
- Dress it up, install reliable battery pack, use it yourself, have a blast/summer car
-
- Sub plan â How is this car going to be used?
Know that e6 cars work best when supplied with gobs of power and a great motor.

I dont see any advice posted that I didnât take. I checked the brakes but I have yet to find some one close to service motor yet and I bought the batteries that battery dude suggested I did not know that flooded(wet batteries) was not ideal they was recommended for golf carts so I thought that is what was needed for the car. Any idea how i can go about getting my battery charger settings changed for flooded batteries or would it be better to just buy another set of batteries?
Hey Suggles, where do you live
