How does the car perform in the winter? Is the range reduced a lot?

Since its a HYBRID the difference will probably be unnoticeable unless your travels extend beyond the electric travel capabilities. Battery capacity is diminished in the winter. Your petrol engine will kick in a bit sooner in cold weather. The 2016 is more refined and quieter for 2016. You made a good choice.
IMHO Plug in Hybrids will be the norm in the future. Your ahead of the pack. CONGRATULATIONS!
