Lithium conversion e4- won’t run

Hi all!
Recently purchased an Allied commercial big bank lithium battery. Installed it with charger and gem won’t run. I have 79 volts at the PSDM. And that’s as far as it goes. I installed a dc converter, but can’t get 24 volts to the ignition switch??
I think it has something to do with charger interlock circuit from old lead acid charger.

  • Any help is appreciated, I’m completely stumped at this point!

It sounds like when you removed your original charger, You disconnected the wires that were running to it. One of them was the interlock wire.

I’m betting that when you attempt a KeyON, there is a little plug icon on the dash?

That interlock wire is dark green and goes into the PSDM on J1 PinJ. Right now it is probably floating around under your hood without a home. Take that wire to B+ and it will unlock the electrical system and wake up your dash display.

I’m not sure where you got the idea that there is supposed to be 24v on the key switch.

From reading the schematic, thought 24v would be at key switch. I will try connecting the green to B+
Thanks!

Connected green wire to B+, but nothing.
I think the connector that I cut wires is J 4,
Hooked most of those up to 24vdc. I have display again. But I don’t see any green wire on J4 on the wiring diagram. But on the display the cord icon is on (like the charger is connected?)

Connected green wire to B+, but nothing.

Are you sure you have the correct green wire?

The J4 connector is for the DC Converter Harness. It contains 12v constant, 12v switched, a 12v sense feed, a ground and sometimes a B+ feed going to the converter. NO WHERE in the wiring harness does it call for 24vdc.

If you are feeding 24v into this car you need to review again at what you are doing. You may have done serious damage to some expensive and difficult to find components.

But I don’t see any green wire on J4 on the wiring diagram. But on the display the cord icon is on (like the charger is connected?)

Scroll back up and read again. Note that I did not call out J4. The interlock wire is on J1. Follow the wire you hooked to B+ and see where it originates from. Make sure you hooked up the correct green wire.

Apologies, you are correct. I did have a green wire floating from J1. I connected that to B+ now.
(I mistakenly connected green wire from J4 to B+.
Hopefully I didn’t fry anything).

I meant to say 12vdc (not 24) :face_with_spiral_eyes:

That’s ok. The colors change a bit through the years, but the use does not.

If you are feeding 12v in on J4 Pin C, Check the accessory connect S6 down on the side of the PSDM. You should have 12v on that point(ref ChassGnd).

Also check F9, F5

Ok I have 12vdc there. I have dash/ext lights.
Have 72 v on the main lugs of contactor. But no control voltage. There is a BK/GRN wire and an OR wire on the contractor-no voltage.

TS guide has to check voltage on a white wire. I do have a floating white wire (was floating around w/ the green wire). Maybe this also an issue?

No. Ignore that white wire.

Org wire at contactor should have B+ at KeyON but you need to have your other meter probe on B- for ref.

Contactor/relay will not close until ready to go.
Controller has many safety checks that must pass, then when a slight pedal press is detected it will close.

Are there any error codes displayed on screen?
Is brake icon illuminated? (release brake)
Is plug icon cleared?
(Post a pic of dash display)
