A recent review of the Tesla Model S indicated glitches and other issues in these new technologies hitting the road.

For one thing, Tesla uses water to cool their battery module, and water doesn’t play nicely with Lithium Ion should there be a leak. BMW uses 134a refrigerant, which is an inert material and and has no adverse reaction with Lithium Ion. Tesla also uses their own charge plug design, which means the cars can’t presently use public charge stations, which use a standard SAE receptacle. Other than that, the Tesla is a completely different car and appeals to a completely different market segment.
