Not sure - PHEVs are still needed to tempt people towards BEVs.
I firmly believe that the plug in hybrid is the short term future (20 years) Although somewhat complicated the tecnology is now mature. You have electric for short range and petrol power for extended trips. The larger the vehicle the more it makes sense to me.
What about Elon Musk and his comment that EVs will be able to do 1000km per charge by 2017?
That would do the trick.
