Any thoughts on what they did to improve this. Would like to do it on a 2018. I have seen some videos on removing spacers but not sure if those are on an E6.

I could be wrong about the model. It was about removing a stop. iirc.
There’s a spacer that you can remove on older GEMS but 2016+ do not have those.
Have you had your steering rack apart? No spacers? Take any pics?
Get down under the front end(put it up on stands) and study what is limiting your turn angle. Note that inside wheel in a turn will typically turn tighter than the outside wheel.
Understand the limits of how far a CV will go before it binds. If you can, remove a tie rod and see how far the knuckle will go.
Keep an eye out for rubbing inside fender. Some improper wheel (tire and rim) will rub at full lock.
