Have a 2002 gem need a half shaft ASAP in San Diego. Does anybody know of a certain maker model at AutoZone that would possibly work or does anybody have one locally they’d be willing to sell?
I don’t recall ever hearing of any alternate / auto-parts store half-shafts. Maybe a golf cart shop or UTV/ATV service can match something up…
Regarding GEM half-shafts on classic models:
1999-2004 GEMs, both half shafts are identical length and interchangeable, so there is only one part number.
2005-up classic 72v GEMs, the Right and Left half-shafts are different lengths. The left (long) half-shaft will NOT fit 1999-2004 or vice versa as it is a different length than the earlier ones.
A custom driveline shop or transmission shop may be able to repair the old shaft.
Otherwise, maybe someone is parting out an old GEM or try eBay or NEVA:
