I have a 94 Geo Metro that I have been thinking of converting to electric. It has the seat belts on the door. I took the door panel of to check things out and found that the seat belts appear to be electrically activated, which made me instantly nervous of the safety of the things, but it also made me think, will they work if I disconnect them? (The wires that is, not the actually belts) And are there belts from an older model that are old fashioned mechanical style? I know that the first metros had the belts on the B pillar like normal, but I need to know if there was an interim model that had them on the door, but didn’t need wiring. I fear that when I gut the unnecessary wiring and control modules that the current belts won’t work.
