E6 Dash Light / Charging Issue

Thanks in advance for your help on this…

2013 E6, 389 miles

All of a sudden the dash lights stop illuminating fully and the display has no information.

When I plug it in the dash lights come on but very dim and the charging indicator does not change like it should.

When I drive the car the dash lights are very dim and none of the information is shown; no speed, no charge, can’t toggle between miles and trip miles.

Again, appreciate the help on this.

My wiring diagram is for older gems.

Do lights work ok?

This from parts manual.
Display fuse.
Easiest place to check dash display voltage, maybe.

Yes, headlights, tail lights, turn signals, hazard, horn… all works fine.

I am getting a forum admin error when I try to open that image. I’m new to the forum is there a setting I need to change so I can see attached images?

Thanks

Not very helpful in any case.
Shows a 1A fuse marked display.

I did check the 1A fuses and they seem fine.

Checked all fuses and still having an issue with display.

The car seems to be charging fine but when I turn the key on the display lights up very dim and non of the display features work: no speedometer, charge meter, trip or miles, nothing…

Anyone have any thoughts on what is going on? Thanks

My guess is bad connection between dc converter and display.

Easiest, check voltage at the fuse supplying dash.
If that’s ok, take dash apart and check there.

If full voltage at display, it must be bad.

There may be easier places to check. I don’t have a schematic.
In a pinch, I can dig into mine. :frowning:

Noticed tonight, there is a dimmer circuit on mine. Does it make a difference in brightness when headlights are on?

yes, the display lights up very dim (no functionality though) and goes even dimmer when the lights are on. Must be the dc connection or dimmer. I think I need to take it in.
